What to do for your role
You do not have to manage a concern on your own.
If something concerns you
1
Seek supportTalk to someone you trust and, where available, the club or federation safeguarding/welfare lead.
2
If you are under 18Choose a trusted adult. If that person is part of the concern, speak to another adult or use an external route.
3
Keep only what is relevantKeep relevant messages or information if it is safe to do so. Do not download, copy or forward intimate images, and do not investigate on your own.
Avoid: Do not confront the person whose behaviour concerns you if that could increase risk.
If someone shares or discloses something serious
1
Take it seriouslyIf it happened to you or someone tells you something, you do not have to decide whether it is “serious enough”.
2
Use a safe reporting routeUse the safeguarding/welfare reporting route. If the lead is involved or you do not feel safe, use an alternative route: federation, higher governing body, child-protection service or relevant authority.
3
Ask for supportYou can ask a trusted person to accompany you through the process.
Avoid: You do not need to investigate or gather proof before asking for help.
If there is immediate danger
1
Put safety firstMove away from the situation if you can do so safely.
2
Get urgent helpContact emergency services, child-protection services where relevant, or the appropriate authority where you are.
3
Then reportOnce safe, also inform the appropriate safeguarding route.
Avoid: Do not face a person who may pose a risk on your own.
GR Safe Sport does not receive reports or store your responses.
